The first day of exploring the park was impressive. Kazu, Heather, and I were accompanied by Michael, who helped orient us as we traveled itinerary three, especially in search of the remains of the Village. We found a lovely bunch of trees, but no village. He also showeds us an oak of incredible girth - 24.5 feet in circumference - which, in conjunction with the effect of old trees we noticed as we rode, shaped the field work we conducted the next few days. Dramatic changes in vista dotted themselves throughout the day and began to bring a sense of Puckler's incredible personality to the landscape in front of us.
