Body Disposal:

The way in which bodies were disposed of after their dissection is still a bit unclear. According to our sources, there were two means of disposal: the official and then the unofficial. The Anatomical Theatre itself had a charnel in the basement where, most likely, the remains were put after a dissection had taken place. Near what is now Clemons Library, there was another Dissecting Hall with a vault which was built about a decade after the Anatomical Theatre and then by the 1910s a Physiological Laboratory was placed in a former dining hall of Hotel A. While it is possible that the remains were burnt in the charnel of the Anatomical Theatre, the remains of bodies could have also been disposed of within the other spaces as well. This would have been the more official way of disposing of a body.
